Accomplished BAS Senior Accountant (CA)
Fuelling Bellingham Wallace's growth and success is a commitment to add more to the business of accountancy through fresh thinking and expansive strategies. It's this unique approach which our clients and the organisations we work with, including The Icehouse and EMA, value most. But of course none of this would be possible without our fantastic, team of accountants who make a sincere difference to the people and organisations they work with.
With a strong focus on business advisory, Bellingham Wallace has an excellent client base that just keeps growing. We are looking for an experienced senior accountant (BAS) who is instinctively able to work at the crossroads of accountancy and business advice with confidence and passion

You will be working for a firm that prioritises investment in their people, their brand, and their services. This is an exceptional opportunity to grow and develop your existing skills well beyond what is on offer in many accounting firms.
The type of work you'll be exposed to will take you from being an accountant crunching numbers to someone who understands the numbers and who can interpret those numbers meaningfully to clients.
What we are looking for:
- Be CA qualified and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
- Have a minimum of 5 years BAS experience with a reputable New Zealand CA firm. Some commercial experience in addition to this would be a major advantage.
- Have a sound knowledge of New Zealand tax, company legislation and financial reporting compliance.
- Have successfully stretched themselves beyond day-to-day compliance work i.e. some exposure to pure business advisory assignments, valuations, financial modelling, preparing forecasts for bank use etc.
- Have advanced Excel skills.
- Have excellent communication and client facing skills, both verbal and written. When it comes to clients you naturally take a proactive approach.
- Want exposure to more pure advisory assignments and be eager to take on new responsibilities.
- Be passionate about their vocation and their continued professional development.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing profit forecasts, cash flow forecasts and budgets.
- Assisting with the analysis and evaluation of various business scenarios, including some financial modelling and feasibility work.
- Preparing and finalising annual financial statements, tax returns and monthly management accounts for more complex entities.
- Advising clients on various accounting, tax and wider business issues.
- Assisting and mentoring our up-and-coming accountants in respect of any tax or statutory compliance assignments.
- Taking an active role in client strategic planning sessions.
- Taking advantage of the many learning and professional development opportunities at Bellingham Wallace.
Make no bones about it; we're a competitive bunch at Bellingham Wallace and we make no apologies for how ambitious we are for our client's success. This position will therefore suite an energetic self-starter who challenges themselves to be on point every day and will seize the opportunities to progress within the firm.
To apply for this position please submit your CV and a covering letter that highlights exactly why you are the best person for this role.
