DIRECTOR CA, BBUS
To make a positive difference to your business, sometimes all you need is someone with a fresh pair of eyes and a sharp business mind to make it happen. Someone like Mike Atkinson, a Chartered Accountant who has a wealth of practical experience and commercial know-how in business governance, plus an uncanny knack for cutting complex issues down to size.
A man of many talents, Mike's expertise and insight extends across a number of specialist areas, from valuations and sale and purchase transactions to successfully raising capital from both traditional and non-traditional sources.
But where Mike truly excels is helping his clients successfully overcome the strategic and governance issues holding them back. The net result is not only a better business, but also an empowered management team who have a profoundly more positive outlook.
Mike is a born networker and, like Matt, is actively involved in contributing to the betterment of both the accounting profession and the business community. He was elected to represent Auckland on the New Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) Council, which is responsible for setting the Institute's long-term strategic direction for the betterment of the profession, its members and ultimately our clients. As well as sitting on several client advisory boards, Mike is Treasurer of the North Harbour Club, a member the CAANZ Sustainability Working Group and was a long standing judge for the Westpac North Auckland Business Awards.
Mike excels at helping his clients successfully overcome the strategic and governance issues holding them back
As a business tax advisor, Mike is regularly invited to speak at business seminars and to put pen to paper for a number of publications. Many of these ideas and opinions find their way into the training courses he conducts for SMEs, industry groups, corporates and accounting professionals.
Standing at over 6ft 3 it will come as no surprise to learn that this Auckland North Shore dad enjoys shooting a few hoops and getting out onto the rugby field. But at the end of the day nothing beats spending time with his wife and two daughters, while strumming a few tunes on his guitar.
