There are SMEs, like Terabyte Interactive, that have tried to change their accounting software in the past, only to find the process too hard and too expensive. This type of ordeal leaves many businesses with a sour taste in their mouth and a case of 'once bitten twice shy' that is difficult to shake.

Doug Hanna runs Terabyte Interactive, one of New Zealand's leading web design and development agencies with an enviable list of blue chip clients and a talented team of 35 very experienced people.

For 16 years the company had been using 'Clients and Profits' to manage their workflow and accounting process. "We've looked at moving over to a new system once before, but it appeared to be too time consuming and costly," explains Doug.  The team at Terabyte therefore carried on using 'Clients and Profits' despite it not being an ideal fit for our business.

"We had it in our heads that moving to another system was never going to be easy, but we were determined to get a modern cloud accounting software system that was available on-line from anywhere, so we pushed on," says Doug. "We were looking for internal processing efficiency gains, bank integration and the ability to automatically process invoices as well as choosing a system that had lots of people available with expertise in it."

Terabyte now use a combination of both Xeroand project management software WorkflowMax. The team are now able to easily create job estimates, record exactly how much time is spent on every task and the invoices automatically appear in Xero.

Hassle free transition to new accounting software

For Terabyte the transition has been a welcomed breath of fresh air. According to Doug there was absolutely no disruption to the business at all. "I was amazed at how smoothly the transition went. It really exceeded my expectations. This rang true even from a training point of view, Michelle our internal accountant only needed two short training sessions with Bellingham Wallace and she was away."
